New Mask Guidelines for Workers Designed by U.S. Federal Officials
In an effort to expand worker protection, U.S. Federal officials have made a change to mask type recommendations. Initial guidelines for the N95 mask types were reserved for front-line healthcare workers only, leaving others with jobs involving high-risk exposure to use lesser quality masks. The new guidelines now approve N95 masks, also referred to as N95 respirators, for various workers to use and allow employers in many verticals to order them for their employees. This change was one of a few that accommodated what some would consider a long-overdue need for those facing potential COVID-19 contamination.
